Stoðir & Stytta
21. - 24.02.2019
Two pillars made from ashwood standing on the floor and third one on a rail. In the old ticket office of Laugardalslaug, the first and only olympic swimming pool in Iceland. The pillars are renderings of steel columns that were part of the original architecture. They have since been removed as the old entrance has been repurposed, adapting to modern needs. The titles (Stoðir og Stytta) are a reference to "pillars of society" and emphasizes the importance of swimming and swimming pools in Icelandic culture.
Stoðir & Stytta were exhibited at Laugardalslaug swimming pool in February 2019 as part of Remember, a group show by students of IUA, following a course on public memory led by Berglind Jóna Hlynsdóttir.
